I always love incorporating a bold pop of a color into an ensemble. There are many ways to infuse vibrant hues to your wardrobe, but for this post we’re talkin’ blazers. Celebrity fashion is always on my radar. I am definitely one who obsessively examines star style both on and off the red carpet. On that note, one of my new favorite starlets to watch is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Aside from being drop dead gorgeous, she has rocked some serious show stopping ensembles. While I love ultra glam looks, it’s Rosie’s more casual dress that has caught my attention. Lately, it seems her go-to daytime style consists of skinny jeans and booties. Let’s just say I adore this uber chic combo! It’s a polished yet effortless approach to dressing and one that can be easily recreated. Pair with an oversized sweater, a cute handbag and sunnies and you’re set for a day out on the town.

As I mentioned in a recent post, Pantone has declared tangerine tango as the “IT” color for 2012. I love anything orange, so I’ve been very excited to see the surge of clothing and accessories featuring this lively hue. While there are many designs to choose from, a favorite of mine at the moment are Christian Louboutin’s Piou Piou Patent Leather Point Toe Pumps ($645.00). These stunners are the perfect complement to a lovely LBD or LWD, adding a dramatic touch to any ensemble. I adore a great wedge – the shoe variety, not the salad. Every season I’m on the lookout for a new pair and low and behold I have already found a pair that I MUST have! This recent surge of chilly weather has definitely made me crave warmer temperatures. Therefore, trips to the beach and resort collections are all I can think about these days. With that said, Diane von Furstenberg has released one super hot line that I absolutely cannot resist (seriously, I want every piece)! Many of the styles in this vibrant collection agree with a burgeoning baby bump like mine which is an added bonus in my book! I love DVF's signature bold prints and beautiful pops of color, especially the orange hues. And if you haven’t heard Pantone just named tangerine tango as the 2012 color of the year. My outlook on shopping has definitely changed now that I’m pregnant, yes fashionistas it’s official! While I would normally gravitate toward more body fitting silhouettes, loose, free flowing finds are my new go-to essentials. On a recent shopping trip, I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of amazing pieces that looked great over my slowly growing belly (I’m not quite ready for maternity wear).

In need of an amazing night out this weekend?! If so, listen up! FUEL the CURE, a Philadelphia based non-profit organization, is celebrating its 4th Annual Benefit THIS Saturday, November 19th at the Arts Ballroom (1324 Locust Street) in Philadelphia. The organization creates fundraising and volunteering events to benefit various charitable organizations and motivate individuals to take action and cultivate a lifestyle of heightened social consciousness and charitable giving. To date, they have raised and donated over $150k to benefit various charitable organizations.

This year, event proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tickets are $100 per person and guests will enjoy delicious food provided by Stephen STARR Events, a five-hour open bar, dancing and a chance to win exceptional raffle prizes. This event is one of the biggest and most anticipated events in Philadelphia, as guests gather to celebrate an evening dedicated to improving the quality of children's lives.

The event is almost sold out, you have until 8pm tonight to purchase your tickets at www.fuelthecure.net. If you are unable to attend the event, please consider making a donation, which you can do via the FTC website.

In addition, there will be a fabulous raffle and tickets for two of the larger prizes can be purchased on the Fuel the Cure website. Since there is now a definite chill in the air, it’s time to stock up on some chic cold weather accessories. I’m always on the hunt for stylish hats, gloves and scarves that will compliment my abundant outerwear collection. Something that I adore this season are fur gloves (many in the faux variety). This standout embellishment adds a glamorous element to the basic mitten and looks absolutely gorgeous. There are so many options to choose from at the moment, most with an extremely affordable price tag, like Loft’s Faux Fur Gloves ($34.50, available in frosted beige, fresh navy & antique grey). A girl can never have too many pairs of jeans, right? I’m a firm believer in this and it’s very evident if you explored my closet. While I definitely have my go-to pairs that I consistently wear, I’m always on the hunt for more. On a recent shopping excursion, I came across a particularly fabulous pair that I just had to own, Habitual’s 'Alice' Coated Skinny Stretch Jeans ($240.00). Coated denim is a hot trend at the moment and I must say that I’m absolutely in love! They’re sexy and chic and the perfect complement to a tank and stilettos for a night on the town. I really couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The fit is perfection, the look is H-O-T and they’re also super comfortable. I know that they’re a bit on the pricier side for denim, but they strikingly resemble leather pants, which would be much more expensive.

All of the top denim designers have come out with their own versions of this coated creation, so if you’re looking for a departure from basic denim, I highly recommend slipping on a pair of these stunners. You won’t be disappointed!

I’m totally head over heels for lace embellishments this season – especially when it comes to blouses. This is an essential staple that is extremely feminine and can be paired with a pencil skirt for the office or skinny jeans for a night on the town. I particularly love a neutral hued top with either black or gold lace accents. It’s a real statement piece and totally glamorous. A favorite of mine is Tibi’s Gold Lace Long Sleeve Blouse ($297.00). We’re all in the midst of organizing our social calendars for the season and if you’re like me, you have a number of formal soirees to attend (weddings, charity galas, etc). I’m a woman with a ridiculously hectic schedule, so over the years I’ve become an avid online shopper. We all have our go-to websites to turn to when our closets need updating, and for me, this virtual approach is ideal. This particular post is dedicated to jewels and when I want to invest in some seriously standout pieces, I turn to Charm & Chain. This fabulous jewelry destination offers designer finds from Kenneth Jay Lane, Dannijo, Alexis Bittar and Kendra Scott. I especially love the site because there is such an amazing selection of exquisite pieces at varying price points. I can spend hours perusing the gorgeous goods, (which can get a bit dangerous), but it’s what one must do in the name of research.

One featured designer that I’m particularly obsessed with is Bounkit. This Moroccan inspired collection has a real exotic vibe. These glamorous pieces feature an array of vibrant precious and semi-precious stones that add a dramatic element to any look. The earrings are especially stunning (I’ve chosen a few favorites below). Hassan Bounkit describes his line as “the perfect blending of modern architectural jewelry and Art Deco boldness.” If you ask me, this eclectic fusion is simply genius.

A chic leather jacket is the perfect topper for fall. It’s definitely a piece every woman should own, but choosing one can be quite daunting. Let me offer you some guidance. I tend to gravitate to the feminine and fitted silhouettes. These styles are very versatile – pair with jeans, a pencil skirt for the office or a cocktail dress. Another element that I’ve been seeing a lot of lately are ruffle embellishments – which I have a hard time resisting. The lovely leather creation by Red Valentino (below) is beyond stunning and the touch of tulle trim is unexpected yet extremely glamorous. If you’re into an edgier style, BB Dakota’s Channing Leather Jacket ($209.00) is a great option and very well priced. Fashion’s Night Out is right around the corner and there are some fabulous events happening in the area! On Thursday, September 8th join Carrying On about Style at Neiman Marcus King of Prussia for an evening of standout style. I'll be blogging live from Neiman’s at their Social Media lounge outside the Cosmetics entrance on Level One from 6-8pm. Enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, music by DJ Gregg Nyce and makeovers courtesy of Dior cosmetics and celebrity hair stylist Artur Kirsh. Yes, I'm addicted to shoes. It’s an undeniable obsession, along with handbags of course. So when designers launch new collections, I have trouble containing my excitement. On that note, I recently experienced a euphoric moment when I came across Red Valentino’s gorgeous footwear for fall. All I can say is that I am head over heels for these beauties! Each beautiful pair is adorned with the infamous Valentino bow embellishment, which I simply adore. I also especially love the textured tweeds. They’re a refreshing departure from the basic black pump and will add a stunning pop to any ensemble.

I’m always on the hunt for amazing statement jewelry and love finding knockout pieces for less. Over the years, Banana Republic has been my go to destination for beautiful jewels, and during a visit the other day I invested in another fabulous find. I was recently flipping through the latest issue of Elle Magazine and came across a fabulous pleated skirt by Club Monaco. Intrigued by this chic style find, I decided to visit the store and was completely blown away. After trying on many fantastic pieces I settled on two gorgeous skirts that will surely be essential staples in my fall wardrobe (one of them is the stunning black pencil skirt with leather pockets below). This collection has a delicate, feminine vibe and I absolutely adore the muted color palette.

Polka dots seem to reemerge season after season in one form or another. I love this look but there are definitely some important styling tips to consider before you rock the spots. To avoid looking like a Minnie Mouse clone, opt for smaller speckled prints and stick with hues like black, navy, beige, white and tan. Also, choose silhouettes that hug your curves. A cinched waist is a must (be sure to stay away from baggy, boxy fits).

If you need a visual, take a chic cue from Mila Kunis and her adorable Oscar de la Renta spotted frock. It’s elegant with a youthful vibe and fits her beautifully. But let’s be honest, would you expect anything less from Mr. de la Renta?!

While I absolutely adore maxi dresses (they’re really what I live in during the summer months), I have to admit that the maxi skirt has not been one of my favorite looks…until now. I’m coming clean. I have a severe jewelry fixation, there I said it. It’s an undeniable obsession that I have indulged in for years and building my collection of statement pieces is incredibly fun. Because this “hobby” can get a bit expensive, I’m always on the hunt for affordable jewels that have that luxe appearance. Enter Stella & Dot. I recently hosted a trunk show at my apartment and instantly fell head over heels! From necklaces to bracelets to earrings to rings and brooches, you will have thought you’ve died and gone to jewel encrusted heaven. Needless to say, I loaded up on many gorgeous designs (a favorite in particular is the Bamboleo Necklace).

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, Stella & Dot yesterday released their Fall 2011 Collection online. All I can say is WOW! With the sweltering heat in full force, it gets harder and harder to balance staying cool with looking chic. Since walking around naked is clearly not an option, it’s all about finding key pieces that are light, airy and of course incredibly stylish. On that note, a favorite trend of mine at the moment is the scalloped short. We’re not talking daisy dukes or other provocative cuts, ladies. These darling designs are ultra feminine and a refreshing departure from the basic short. I actually just purchased a beautiful pair made by C. Luce at South Moon Under with fabulous enamel buttons down each side for only $65.00! I am fully in love with this lady-like look and cannot wait to wear them!

On the styling front, either keep it low key for day by adding a casual tank and flip flops or glam it up for evening with a silk camisole and stilettos. These bottoms are a great way to add a touch of charm to your wardrobe, so I highly recommend investing in a pair immediately.

Basically, it’s all about creating an ensemble by putting blocks of solid color side by side. There are many ways to incorporate the look into your wardrobe ranging from intense electric hues to more subtle shades - it really depends on how bold you like to go.

If you’re in need of a visual, feast your eyes on the always so chic Olivia Palermo. This take on the trend is a relaxed yet feminine concoction that’s easy to recreate. Mix one part dark color block cardigan with one part flirty and fun LWD and one part leopard ballet flat - so effortless! While classic khaki is an absolute staple, it’s always refreshing to divert from the norm. That’s why I’m currently coveting colorful coats (say that three times fast)! This week on the celebrity style front, I have to express my complete adoration for Jordana Brewster and her magnificent Carolina Herrera ensemble at the Rio premiere of Fast & Furious 5. All in all, it’s a breathtaking look that deserves major attention!

To start, you can never go wrong with a Carolina Herrera gown, period. Her designs are always refreshingly feminine and the epitome of pure elegance. Secondly, Ms. Brewster is donning the hottest colors of the season, a vibrant mix of coral and pink, totally gorgeous! Lastly, this look is just head to toe perfection. The spring/summer 2011 style forecast includes all things crochet and I have to admit that I’m loving this trend. We’re not talking over-sized doilies here ladies, rather feminine, show off your curves pieces that can be worn for day or night. Designer labels such as Chanel, Dior & Ferragamo all interpreted this knitted statement from dresses to skirts to even handbags. While these looks often go the more bohemian route (circa 1970's style), the more modern, luxe looks seen on the runways this season are much more my cup of tea. After close examination, I have to say that Lela Rose’s Spring 2011 RTW collection is one of my absolute favorites this season. Springtime is in the air this week and the burst of warm weather has made me very excited for a wardrobe change.

The style forecast this season includes dramatic, eye-catching hues which Lela Rose beautifully displays in her fabulous line. For all of you fashionistas, it’s all about channeling the dazzling colors of the rainbow. Two of my favorites in particular, pink and orange, are quite predominant in Ms. Rose's sea of stunning creations. Going nautical is all the rage for Spring/Summer 2011. It’s a classic trend that never goes out of style and one that is constantly reinterpreted and updated year after year. The runways were stripe happy this season from Louis Vuitton and Chanel to Chloe and Marc Jacobs.

There are endless ways to channel your inner sailor (dresses, sweaters, etc). With this in mind, I decided to narrow down the choices a bit and focus my attention on the blazer. A jacket is a great place to start if you’re looking to embrace the trend. It’s a versatile piece that can be paired with anything from jeans to shorts to a sheath dress.

On the styling front, be mindful of the pattern. There is such thing as too much of a good thing and this is definitely true when it comes to prints. My advice, balance a striped blazer with solids underneath along with some dramatic gold jewels to achieve that nautically chic look.

All you need now is a gorgeous yacht and you’ll be set!

This next post is inspired by one of my recent shopping excursions. I purchased a gorgeous Rag & Bone leather dress that I just had to have (you'll find it in my selections below). Do you ever have those 'love at first sight' moments with fashion? I do, and this occasion was no exception! But I digress.

I then came across a beautiful leather Chloe ensemble that Kate Bosworth rocked on the red carpet. With both dresses, I was immediately drawn to the edgy yet feminine fusion. Think biker babe meets sophisticated lady (a surprising combo that totally works). It’s a modernly chic take on the classic LBD and a fabulous option for your next cocktail party. I really like Kate's minimalistic approach to accessories. A standout cocktail ring, sheer black tights and a sensational pair of heels is all you need.

From subtle embellishments to completely covered bodices, leather is a lovely look to try. Sleek, sultry and just plain stunning!

If you’re like me, your eyes were glued to Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet. I could really care less about the actual awards, but I can’t get enough of the gorgeous fashion! There are always predominant trends, and this year was no exception. Going green was one HOT look of the night and I was a total fan. Stylish celebs like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mila Kunis and Angelina Jolie looked absolutely flawless in this rich hue.

This sea of green really got me thinking beyond the gowns and onto accessories, which leads me to my latest obsession. Feast your eyes on Jimmy Choo’s Vamp Sandal in Jade ($750.00). If you were to invade my closet, you’d notice I’m a blazer lover. From velvet to corduroy to lacey embellishments, my collection really runs the gamut in the style department. CARRYING ON ABOUT 3 BY THREE DESIGNS...

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the exceptionally talented individuals that make up 3 By Three, a creative collaboration between three of Philadelphia's hottest emerging textile designers. Recently featured at Philadelphia Fashion Week, Janell Wysock, Melissa D’Agostino and Rachel Sherman are the amazing women behind this creative force and have taken the local design community by storm with their innovative and handmade pieces. I was immediately blown away when I stepped into Janell’s work space (imagine being surrounded by a myriad of gorgeous woven creations). Her pieces are truly standout and her chunky knits add a dramatic pop to any ensemble (I had a lot of fun playing dress up)!

Next in the lineup is Melissa and her uniquely hand dyed designs. Utilizing traditional shibori dyeing techniques, she’s created a striking ready-to-wear line that speaks to women of all ages. Clients can peruse her showroom and receive personalized consultations to find the pieces that best complement their specific silhouettes. Melissa also customizes garments (everything from fabrics, colors, patterns, and textures) to best reflect the customer’s style aesthetic.

Last but certainly not least is Rachel and her label, Malagueta (a type of chili that grows in Brazil - where her mother was born). Needless to say, this name is very representative of her line. Rachel’s use of vibrant colors and intricate patterns are extremely eye-catching and reflect her intense love of nature. She utilizes multiple design techniques such as applique, top-stitching, ruching and embroidery to create her distinct collections.

All in all, these ladies bring a new dimension of inventiveness to the local world of artisan fashion and I’m very excited to see all that they have in store moving forward!
